The Calder Chronicles

Welcome to the Calder Chronicles. Calder began as a character in the WonHundred Word Wednesday flash fiction. However, he wasn’t content to have just one week and kept coming back. Here his stories are gathered together and new installments will come.

Outside the cabin, the wind howled through the trees

What is WonHundred Word Wednesdays? It’s when a group of amazing authors and I write 100 word stories all based on the same short prompt and post them. All the variations are fun to read. This week I have continued the story from last week, “Forgotten.”

Outside the cabin, the wind howled through the trees. Inside, the pair sat in silence. Calder stabbed the fire scowling. He’d wasted too much wood. The stranger looked uncomfortable on Calder’s stool, overly large. Calder never had guests here, no need for two seats.

“What do you want?” The man jumped as if attacked. Considering the stammering nonsense sputtered when Calder opened the door, the reaction was likely nerves. Great, a green boy.

The man cleared his throat. “I’ve come to bring you back, Calder.”

Snorting, Calder shook his head. The thought was preposterous. “The Omendii summoned me?”

    “Not exactly.”

Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.
