Christmas and Dragons

She knelt in her new living-room, unwrapping ornaments from the cardboard box

What is WonHundred Word Wednesdays? It’s when a group of amazing authors and I write 100 word stories all based on the same short prompt and post them. All the variations are fun to read. Here is my entry for the week.

She knelt in her new living-room, unwrapping ornaments from the cardboard box wishing they hadn’t bought this home. Or that it hadn’t moved. The ornaments were little reminder of home or the season.

“I want the dragon,” Theo hollered chasing after Connor.

Abandoning her task, she sprung after her boys. “No dragons in the house.”

“But it’s a baby,” Connor said, stopping abruptly to holding the creature up for examination. A baby indeed.

She shook her hand and pointed. “Outside.” The boys complied grumbling. How could they focus on Christmas with this world’s wonders? Sighing, she went back to decorating.

Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.
