Dark and Stormy

Liberty had no refuge

What is WonHundred Word Wednesdays? It’s when a group of amazing authors and I write 100 word stories all based on the same short prompt and post them. All the variations are fun to read. This one is for Kristi.

It was a dark and stormy night and he was waxing cliché. He settled against the tree watching the light show. The flashes illuminated the group he guided. Ragged and exhausted a few heads titled thirstily upward, fighting against dehydration. Their leaders wouldn’t last much longer.

Chloe settled next to him. She leaned in close to whisper, still the meaning was more interoperated than heard. “We can’t keep going like this.”

He nodded pulling the ponchos hood tighter against his already soaked face. The problem was there was nowhere else to go with the border closed. Liberty had no refuge.

Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.
