What is WonHundred Word Wednesdays? It’s when a group of amazing authors and I write 100 word stories all based on the same short prompt and post them. All the variations are fun to read. Here is my entry for the week.

He didn’t want to go out on such a night, but he’d pledged. The wipers barely cleared the windshield anymore as ice crusted them. He plowed through a final drift and parked. Christmas lights blazed in the dawn.

Letting out a breath, he reached for his small passenger. She didn’t stir. Securing the blanket, he opened his door the air instantly chilling him.

The house door thumped open as he approached. The woman, headless of the cold, sprinted to them and clutched the child to her, crying and sobbing her thanks. His tears blurred the scene as he turned away.
