Sight Unseen

She felt for the lock in the dark
What is WonHundred Word Wednesdays? It’s when a group of amazing authors and I write 100 word stories all based on the same short prompt and post them. All the variations are fun to read. Here is my entry for the week.

The floorboard groaned under her weight. Wincing she froze, not daring to breath. A poor choice as the lack of oxygen concealed sounds of discovery.

Releasing her breath she made for the chest. Trembling hands reached the ancient wood, she felt for the lock in the dark. The key slid in with a groan.

She winced but kept moving. The noise wouldn’t matter soon. Not once she got. . .

“No,” she breathed, but denial made no difference.

With painful suddenness, the lights flashed on. “Looking for this?” She turned toward the voice. Her father stood twilling Hades Helm tauntingly.

Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. Theirs go up throughout the day.
