Skeleton’s Night

He realized the child had seen him

What is WonHundred Word Wednesdays? It’s when a group of amazing authors and I write 100 word stories all based on the same short prompt and post them. All the variations are fun to read. Here is my entry for the week.

Balancing on the fence post Amby raised his skull. The air was chill against his bones. Autumn wouldn’t last but tonight was his.

Raising his hands, skeletal fingers curled around the moon. It swirled, distorting. Shadows formed upon the surface, a distorted grin. A grin mortals mimicked in pumpkins. As if that would stop him.

A twig snapped in the field behind him. Dropping from the fence post, Amby twisted.

There was a shadow in the field. Small, but not jagged enough for one of his demons. It was a human. A youngling. He realized the child had seen him.

Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.
