Stop Lights

Poetry & Filk

This week I bring something new to my blog: Filk songs! What is filk? Go read about it here!

Today’s Filk song is an InstaFilk written last night in my head while driving home late at night. When the stoplights are the brightest thing around, who says they don’t have personalities?

Stop Lights
by Jenna Eatough
(to the tune of Black Socks)

Green lights, they say keep on going.
The longer you see them the greener they get.
Some time, they might just turn yellow,
But something inside me pleads don’t do it yet.
Not yet.
Not yet.
Not yet.

Yellow, it leaves me uncertain.
The longer you see it the chancier it gets.
Sometimes, its longer or shorter.
My passenger pleads with me don’t do it yet.
Not yet.
Not yet.
Not yet.

Red lights, they are so annoying.
The longer you sit there the redder they get.
Sometimes, I think they just mock me.
Their unchanging stares says we won’t do it yet.
Not yet.
Not yet.
Not yet.
