The Play’s the Thing

Oh, foul charity

Welcome to Wednesday’s flash fiction wherein I write as part of a group based on the same short prompt and post them. Here’s my contribution.

Irwyn strutted across the stage ignoring my direction. “Oh, foul charity. Thou hast lain me low before the beast.” His voice carried though. That wasn’t true for most. Irwyn paused glancing my way.

“Free me from this fate.” My voice carried too. Laughter erupted as he relayed the words. He was on track again though. I’d never be. Not with this rabble.

Irwyn screamed impossibly loud. What’d spooked the fool now? A dragon’s eye leveling with me halted my motion, but not the crowd’s.

I should’ve written a less fierce beast for my hero. This one had come to gripe.

Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.
