Webs and Shades

Spider threads caught at her face, a sign that no-one had been there yet

What is WonHundred Word Wednesdays? It’s when a group of amazing authors and I write 100 word stories all based on the same short prompt and post them. All the variations are fun to read. Here is my entry for the week.

Spider threads caught at her face, a sign that no-one had been there yet. Hers were the only audible footsteps. It couldn’t last. “How long until they come?” she whispered.

“I doubt they’ll check here, Princess. The wing’s haunted after all.” Irony permeated his voice. The words were practically spoken in her ear, yet the air remain deathly still producing an instinctive fright. She shoved it aside.

“Ghosts aren’t frightening.”

“Perhaps not to you.”

She stopped, turning to rebut. The words died as Ormand shook his head sadly. The webs remained undisturbed through her fiancé’s luminous form. They would pay.

Now see the rest!
