Nevin ducked behind his terminal when security escorted Candra through. The girl shouldn’t have been sacked, but if he said anything . . . A door swished open. Dea, her presence dampened the atmosphere.
Forcing himself back to work, Nevin knew he couldn’t afford unwanted attention. He had to slip the virus into the program. Time grew short.
Dea swooped through the cubicles pausing behind him. He resisted the urge to look.
“How are the launch’s preparations?” Dea said. He couldn’t guess her mood. If she had emotions anymore.
“Proceeding apace.” He said. For now. Live’s depended on that changing.
