Welcome to Wednesday’s flash fiction wherein I write as part of a group based on the same short prompt and post them. Here’s my contribution.
Ryder welcomed the shadow at plays end. He had enjoyed ten years of being totally irresponsible. Ten years and the price was due and the decayed waited.
“Stick together,” he heard a voice say behind. “If we stick together it can’t be too bad.” The words fell into hopeless repetition.
Hopeless wasn’t was him. He’d known what was at the end. He welcomed it. The decay had taken Tes and he’d steal her back.
Rot filled the air as the gate finally sprang. Darkness lay beyond. Some whimpered. But not Ryder. He sprang forward, drawing his knife as he ran.
Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.
