I'm sorry if it upsets you, but I'm marrying her

Welcome to Wednesday’s flash fiction wherein I write as part of a group based on the same short prompt and post them. Here’s my contribution.

I’m sorry if it upsets you, but I’m marrying her–

The parchment fell from my numb fingers. The fool. How could he do this? Did family mean nothing to disappear to marry a trollop over Princess Roderiqua.

Horse hooves rang on the cobbles accompanied by a carriage’s rattle. Looking out the window I swore quietly. The princess.

I dashed from my fool of son’s rooms. There was a lie to cover his absence while Payne fetched my son. This could be fixed yet before more trouble or insult was had. If I could think of it over Roderiqua discordant tones.

Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.
