Welcome to Wednesday’s flash fiction wherein I write as part of a group based on the same short prompt and post them. Here’s my contribution.
Glass crunching under my heal I peered out. The hunter’s car was crawling quietly along the street. The engine’s rumbled low. A hand touched me and I drew back, kneeling.
Barely able to reach, Myeong’s fingers brushed my forehead. He’s pursues still. I nodded. Lying to a telepath was pointless. Go. He’ll leave you alone.
“No,” I said ignoring his flinch. “He’s wrong. They’re all wrong. You didn’t cause this. None of you did.”
They believe otherwise. I nodded. Ruin’s silence allowed his kind to move about. Our distrust was the culprit though. I wouldn’t let them get Myeong too.
Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.
My website is down, so I couldn’t post my flash fiction there. Here’s mine:
Jilted
The ghost of Phineas Illingworth languished behind the steering wheel of his rusted model-t as it crept quietly down the road. Back in nineteen seventeen, he’d driven the prettiest girl in Oak Creek to the ball in it. She left with his rival. Frustrated, he took a sledge-hammer to the Ford. A hundred years later, he still thought about her, about how things might have been. Her great-great-granddaughter, with pigtails flying, and tennis shoes thumping, darted across the road. Phineas didn’t brake.
