Gnats

He was impervious to her abuse

Welcome to Wednesday’s flash fiction wherein I write, as part of a group, a flash fiction based on the same short prompt and post the story. Here’s my contribution.

Why must gnats wake him? He snorted as the pressure beat against his side. Useless of course. He pulled himself from the floor (cold now anyways) and twisted his neck to see his latest pest.

“But you’re a girl?” he said leaning closer.

“I’m a warrior!” she said indignantly, metal clanging the scales of his snout. Still useless. He was impervious to her abuse.

“Warrior child,” he rolled his eyes. “What do you want?”

“To slay you!”

“Not that worn line again. Would you take some gold instead?” Bribes worked. Sometimes.

She stared at him in disbelief, her sword lowering.

Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.
