Three Mistakes

Morals were for the weak

Welcome to Wednesday’s flash fiction wherein I write as part of a group based on the same short prompt and post them. Here’s my contribution.

“Morals are for the weak.” Her master’s ere was directed elsewhere; Zeppora breathed wrapped in her shadows. Today she promised herself.

His victim looked about though. First mistake.

The master’s steel cut a river through the lair’s gloom. The runt screamed, dropping as the dagger struck. Second mistake.

Zeppora shifted onto the balls of her feet, tracing her arm’s scar.

Her master grabbed hold of his dagger again, twisting it. There it was. Bloodlust to outmatch his avarice. Third mistake.

Shedding shadows, Zeppora struck. Her blade found spine, not muscle. “Morals were for the weak.” She grinned into his surprise.

Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.
