Ticket’s Loss

What do you mean, you lost the lottery ticket?

What is WonHundred Word Wednesdays? It’s when a group of amazing authors and I write 100 word stories all based on the same short prompt and post them. All the variations are fun to read. Here is my entry for the week.

“What do you mean, you lost the lottery ticket?” I didn’t hear his stuttered response. Normally I’d enjoyed his terror at delivering such a message. It was sweet to watch, but not now. I’d been so tantalizingly close. Every cent had gone to this plot.

Paying off the seer for the numbers had been sheer luck. Normally they didn’t need cash and she’d be gone by now. Another wouldn’t be found in time, even if I’d still had the bribery funds.

The fool was still stuttering apologies, excuses, promises. None of it mattered. I silenced him the old fashioned way.

Now see the rest!
