Blame

Blame was the key

Welcome to Wednesday’s flash fiction wherein I write, as part of a group, a flash fiction based on the same short prompt and post the story. This month is NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and my story comes from the universe of the book I’m working on. How it connects I won’t say, but I hope you enjoy this week’s contribution.

Water dripped in a staccato rhythm. That’s the next project Redava decided. She looked up to faces watching, waiting for wisdom. Too bad wisdom hid from her.

Returning, a simple idea but every detail weighed. Was this what’d driven the High Master mad? Even with the history and power they’d barely saved the High Circle. How could her Circle oust the Gaudre when they had the advantage here?

“Blame,” Redava said. “We give Guadre blame for every job. Gain power. Gain funds. Let the guards chase them. We’ll thrive through anonymity.”

Cydric’s slow grin assured her the answer would work.

Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.
