The Job

What is WonHundred Word Wednesdays? It’s when a group of amazing authors and I write 100 word stories all based on the same short prompt and post them. All the variations are fun to read. Here is my entry for the week.

Popping her gum in annoyance, she slammed the phone down. It had been too long. She’d distracted the guards hours ago. Her brothers should have been done shortly after.

Her fingers itched to pick up the device again already. She kept checking her phone and email, wishing someone would make contact. They’d be sorry when she found them, but she wasn’t worried they’d run. They knew she’d find them and wouldn’t be cheerful at the reunion.

The most unassuming, she wasn’t weak. That’s why they’d agreed to the job. Crossing her wasn’t worth it. A fact she’d help them recall.
