Wounded

The lights appeared out of the darkness

Welcome to Wednesday’s flash fiction wherein I write as part of a group based on the same short prompt and post them. Here’s my contribution.

The shipped shuddered rhythmically. “Come on,” Jacelyn said riding the controls. Dylan wouldn’t forgive her if they failed to reach Scout Station. If he woke again. The worn med bay was barely stocked, and he needed help.

Bucking, the ship refused her control. Jacelyn cut the thrusters setting the ship drifting through space, returning it to a wounded shudder.

The patch needed checking. They didn’t need to vent air too. Turning, she readied to rise.

Her movement stalled as a glow caught Jacelyn’s eye. The lights appeared out of the darkness. Scout Station. She sagged. Out of the frying pan.

Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.
